Meet Gene Kendall

Gene Kendall is a retired Rear Admiral of the United States Navy whose 35-year career spans leadership at sea, naval education, and strategic service at the Pentagon. One of the first African American undergraduate students admitted to Duke University, he later earned advanced degrees in Engineering Physics from the University of Kansas. In Failure Was Never An Option, he shares the experiences, values, and lessons that shaped his remarkable journey.
